Fairfield, CT- This past Thursday, the Women’s Club Basketball team took on Fairfield University in the Pitt center where they went on to win 42-41 in overtime. For the first 6 minutes of the game, the score remained 0-0 as both the Pioneers and the Stags were playing impeccable defense. Finally, the first basket was scored during the 7th minute of the half by one of the Pioneers. However, heading into half time the Stags had the lead. The Pioneers came back feisty, looking for a win on their home court. After regulation, the game was tied at 38-38. The game went into a 3 minute overtime, where the Pioneers came out with their first win on the season, 42-41.
The team also played this past Sunday at UConn, where they were scheduled to face UConn, Boston College, and Northeastern. Unfortunately, the team only ended up playing 2 games as the third game with Northeastern has been postponed until a further date. The Pioneers fell to both UConn and Boston College, 32-21 and 58-25 respectively. The team is looking forward to coming out strong in their next tournament!
