Fairfield, CT- After coming off a season where the team did not have a win, the Men’s Bowling team had a strong season backed by great campaigns by their veterans. In the first tournament of the season, the Pioneers traveled to the FMCC Baker Tournament in Upstate New York. The team placed fifth in the tournament and also led the field with the highest game of the day (258).
From there, the Pioneers attended the Viking Classic where they hit their stride. Captain Austin Moy placed first in the singles portion of the tournament with a pin fall of 544 (181.33 average). He shot 1102 (183.7 average) overall for the day, leading the entire field. The team also placed first in the doubles portion of the tournament as well. Again Captain Austin Moy, with teammate Jimmy Morris, shot a combined 1028 to win doubles by 35 pins.
To end the season, the Pioneers bowled in the Metro Classic where Captain Austin Moy placed fifth out of 42 bowlers with a 370 total pin fall over two games. In the doubles portion of the event, the lanes broke down and four of our bowlers were able to push through tough lane conditions and place in the top portion of the field. Thomas Peper and Andrew Santiago placed 12th with total pin fall of 669. Austin Moy and Jimmy Morris placed right behind them at 13th with total pin fall of 658.
