Women's Lacrosse Supports #SeibelStrong During Saturday's Games

Saturday Games

SHU Women's Club Lax dedicated both of their games on Saturday to one of Carly Persichilli's hometown friends, Lauren Seibel, who is battling Hodgkins Lymphoma. The team wore purple ribbons in their hair during the games to show their support. #SeibelStrong

SHU vs. QU Score 10-2 (SHU WON)

Big Conference win over QU 10-2, Alyssa Jank was the first to score for the pioneers later on to follow Dicioccio was on fire racking up a hatrick. Both Lauren Lyver & CC Calabreses had goals and an assist. In net Maria "Jerry" Cipriano had 9 saves in net. Carly Persichilli (Defense) received key player of the game who was a big contribute to the win over QU. This win was the first of our 4 game weekend. 

SHU vs. Marist  Score 9-7 (SHU WON)

This was a conference game where the pioneers won 9-7 over Marist College. Liv Bryant & Kate Fuller both received key player of the game who both scored a goal each. Fuller had 3 assists as well & Bryant was a huge asset to our midfield. This was the first time SHU has played Marist College as they recently just joined the NEWLL conference. Holly Groff played big in net recording 5 saves. SHU went 2-0 on the day. 

Sunday Games

SHU vs. Stony Brook Score 9-8 (SHU WON)

A thrilling sudden death OT conference win over Stony Brook University with Bridget Jesser scoring the OT goal for SHU. Key players of the game went to Alyssa Jank & Bridget Jesser. Olivia Bryant had herself a game scoring 3 goals. Captain Catie Gadue had 2 assists for the day. In net for the pioneers was Holly Groff, who had 7 saves. "It was an exciting and much needed win, I'm proud of the girls who pushed through playing in the rain and gave it their all in this conference game. As of right now we are in a good spot to make it to Regionals." (Coach JuJu) Jesser had 2 goals for the game but it was her last goal that had a lasting impact on the pioneers win as the team rushed the field after the sudden death OT win.  

SHU vs. CCSU Score 6-8 (SHU LOST) 

SHU took on CCSU who recently moved out of the NEWLL conference, and fell short 6-8. Captain Catie Gadue played strong on offense generating 2 goals. Lauren Lyver racking up 2 goals and 2 assists throughout the game. Maria "Jerry" Cipriano had 10 saves throughout the game. Key player game went to captain Julianna "Chicken" Cacciatore (Defense) who played strong on defense against CCSU's offense. SHU battled against CCSU but unfortunately couldn't generate 3 more goals to take the lead over CCSU.
