Fairfield, CT- The Women's Club Soccer team had a good fall season this year. The team had an excellent turn out starting out the season with 71 girls interested in playing. Each member of the team contributed on and off the field and were very supportive of each other. The Pioneers had a consistent number of girls commit to each game keeping the roster at about 14 girls-22 girls and 32 girls for tournaments. For the fall season, the Women's Club Soccer team traveled to University of New Haven, Yale University, Fairfield University, Central Connecticut University, University of Hartford, and Trinity University. The team had two home games where we played Wesleyan University and Fairfield University. Head Coach, Angelina Curcio stated, "The most memorable game was our win at Trinity University. The team traveled over an hour to play at their home field and came back with a win, the final score being 2-0." Two of the captains, Gabriella Messina and Michelle Materna, really stepped up and even assisted with coaching at times. The season's toughest loss came when the team traveled to Hartford to play University of Hartford. At the time they only had 14 girls on the roster and unfortunately the team was unable to put a ball in the back of the net. The Pioneers came home with a 1-0 loss that day. The team played 8 games in total resulting in 1-0-7 completed season. However, as Coach Angelina Curcio mentioend, "I don't think these statistics accurately reflect the dedication, commitment, and love of the game that SHU women's club soccer has to offer. Looking forward to another great season ahead of us!"
